What’s my job, exactly?

At Man and Van Raynes Park, I do what it takes to transport your goods anywhere within London. As soon as you get in touch with me, I start heading in your direction. I would usually reach you quickly – on average, it takes 19 minutes. At your location, and again at your destination, I’m happy to help you load and unload everything you need to move. What I can’t help with is actually packing your boxes, or dismantling furniture, but keep it ready, and we’ll have it on its way in no time!

What do we transport around London?

You tell me. As long as it fits in the van when the doors are closed, and is legal (we recommend leaving those skeletons behind in the closet), I’ll help you move it. No garbage either, but anything else goes. Man and Van London don’t have a minimum size requirement, so if you need to deliver a small package, that’s fine too.

On a normal day, we transport anything from equipment and furniture to documents. Small businesses moving goods love that it’s so easy and efficient to work with us, and families who are moving appreciate the help with the heavy lifting. Others enjoy the flexibility – one day they could bring in their new sofa, and another time, they might just need a quick lift with some parcels.

How to organize your items for a move

Organizing your items for a move can be a streamlined process with the right approach. Here’s a concise guide to help you:

Best ways to pack your books for a move

Best ways to pack your books for a move

Packing books for a move requires careful consideration to protect them from damage. Begin by sorting your books into categories, deciding which ones to keep, donate, or sell. For the ones you’re moving, use small to medium-sized sturdy boxes to avoid making them too heavy to lift. Line the boxes with packing paper or bubble wrap for extra protection against bumps and moisture. Pack books tightly to prevent shifting, but not so tight that they’re damaged or difficult to remove. For hardcovers, wrap each one individually in packing paper to protect the covers and pages. You can pack books flat, spine down, or with the spine facing the side of the box to prevent bending. Avoid packing with the spine facing up, as this can cause the glue to break down and pages to fall out. Seal the boxes with strong tape and label them clearly with the contents and room destination. Remember to lift boxes properly, using your legs, not your back, to prevent injury. These steps will help ensure your books arrive at your new home in good condition, ready for their new shelves.
